Queensland Youth State Championships, 21-24 March, North Kirra

Our Mermaid youth team had an amazing four days at the State Championships at North Kirra.  All our nippers did a brilliant job in some tough but great for racing conditions.  For some of our Nippers this was their first major carnival and not only did they take it in their stride they also raced their best.  Congratulations to all competitors!!

Mermaid finished 12th out of 33 clubs competing with 71 points and improvement on last year’s 65 points.  Way to go Team Mermaid!!!

Queensland State Championships, 15 -17 March, Kurrawa & North Kirra

Congratulations to all our Mermaid competitors that took part in the State champs this weekend.  Our Mermaid teams achieved some fantastic results across Seniors, Masters and Boaties.

Our senior team had a really successful weekend with our athletes making numerous individual and team finals.   Special congratulations to medal winners Hayden Van Hooven, Silver in the U17 Swim and Jeremy Kneen, Bronze in the U19 swim.

Our Mermaid Masters team had a brilliant weekend finishing up an impressive 7th overall and with a total medal haul of 20 medals.  Congratulations to our Gold Medal winners; Penny Burgess, Sandy Penman, Louise Roberts, Juliann Desjardins, Pete Degnian, Wayne Marshall, Dale Penman and Pete Weekes.

Our Mermaid Boaties continued the fantastic results claiming the Open Male Surf Boat State Title!  Well done to all of our boat crews for a fantastic effort this weekend.

Mermaid Beach SLSC is very excited to be hosting the Pan Pacs Ocean Swimming event in 2024!  There will be 3 course options: 1km, 2.5km & 4km.
The Pan Pacs are Asia-Pacific’s biggest and best annual Masters Games.  This is your opportunity to be a sports star for 10 days at some of the best sporting facilities on the planet, as well as a great entertainment program.  No qualifying standards for entry.
