The Club provides a wide range of training sessions through professional coaches and with the assistance of a number of voluntary coaches.  These sessions cater for ALL active members, juniors (nippers), and those training for either their Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate.

Coaching and training is provided in the following disciplines:

  • General Fitness
  • Ski
  • Board
  • Iron Man/Woman
  • Surf Boats
  • Beach Sprinting
  • Beach Flags
  • Champion Life Saver

The training timetable for the season can be found on the Surf Club website home page or on the notice board in the craft area.

MNM Training, is a combined initiative of three clubs (Mermaid, Nobby's and Miami) to provide increased training sessions and experience for all of our members. No matter what your fitness level is, there will be a session for you. You can participate in any training session at either club. If you wish to participate at a session with Nobby’s or Miami, please contact the Team Manager (Ann Donnelly-Marshall) so she can notify the other club that you are attending and confirm you as a financial, proficient member. After your first session, notice is not required.

Some coaching and craft subsidies (for example for pool swimming coaching) are also available for competing members. Refer to the Competitor's handbook for more information on subsidies and competitor's responsibilities.

Members should refer to the Competitor's handbook or contact the Surf Sports Director or specific discipline captains if they have any enquiries regarding opportunities in regard to surf sports.
